The North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association annually sponsors the Summer Planning Institute. It provides opportunities for practicing planners, public officials, planning educators and others with an interest in planning to share ideas/experiences and learn skills relating to a variety of planning issues.
Appalachian State University will host the 2009 Summer Planning Institute in Boone May 28 & 29. The program includes several topical sessions including economic development, stormwater management, internet-based mapping and public involvement, and steep slope development.
It's a great time of the year to make a trip to the mountains. Mark your calendars now, and plan to attend.
The 2009 Summer Planning Institute is a two-day conference. Participants have the option of registering for one day or both days. Or, participants may choose to attend the one-day Computer-Intensitive Lab Internet Mapping and Public Participation to be held May 29 in conjunction with the Institute.
